Spent some time yesterday learning about a new directory designed to bring the Pacific Northwest’s green education programs into a single, comprehensive online directory. Designed to let students interested in green careers learn about both careers and program options, EcoWiz.net is the brainchild of a team of professionals, all working in the sustainability space (more on this later).

Meeting in the Vance Building in the conference room at Web Collective was apropos. Leed Certified and chockerblock full of green business and non-profits,  the Vance Building has an Energy Star score of 97 (putting it in the top 4% of its peers) and is a showcase for successful commercial LEED retrofits.

Emerging options in green education and career paths is very good news,  and clear evidence that the green movement is deepening, getting smarter and is fully embraced by some of the very best learning institutions.

Also encouraging, scientists and students are building dialog with communities outside of scholastic circles…think Woods Institute, Coastal Society…..all promising for a deeper green of engaged researchers, activists and practitioners in the future.
